Meet Jen

Built by this community.
Ready to serve it.

Jen is a lifelong Corpus Christi resident, business owner, community advocate, and mother dedicated to serving the people of District 2. For more than a decade she's worked to make a difference through volunteer service, advocacy for victims and families, small business development, and neighborhood improvement efforts.

Her commitment comes from personal experience. As a young mother, she learned firsthand the challenges families face while working to build a better future. The loss of her father inspired a lifelong commitment to service, one that still drives her to stand up for families and make sure every voice in District 2 is heard.

"District 2 isn't just where I live. It's home."

Community members gathered at the annual I Walk to Remember event

In 2014, Jen Allende's father, Ben Mustafa, was murdered in an act of domestic violence. The loss shattered her family and changed the course of their lives forever.

There is no roadmap for surviving something like that. In the years that followed, the family leaned on one another just to get through it: birthdays without him, holidays that felt hollow, a grief that never fully goes away. But somewhere inside that pain, they found something else, each other, and a reason to keep going.

Healing didn't mean moving on. It meant making sure her father's life, and the way it was taken, would mean something. Every year since, Jen has organized the "I Walk to Remember" Homicide Awareness Walk, bringing survivors, grieving families, and neighbors across Corpus Christi together to remember the people they've lost and to say, out loud, that domestic violence will not be met with silence.

"Every victim deserves to be remembered. And every family carrying this kind of loss deserves to know they are not alone."

— Jen Allende
